I supported Fiona as her secretary and Tommy's lab and was in the office next door.  Numerous times Fiona would be sitting in her office with her big puffer jacket on as she was cold, as for some reason the heating never travelled through to Fiona's office!  Don't know how many times I gave her a heater and a ticking off for not asking to borrow it!

Then the cups of tea, Fiona always stopped at my door to say hello and a chat and often I noticed she looked pale but she looked pale when she was tired and just come off clinical, so I'd make her a cup of tea and when I took it through to her that was the excuse to sit and have a chat about anything and everything - she'd tell me about James and David and their studies and what they got up to!  We would always have a laugh about her new invention the FF - she was very clever.

The Centre went on a retreat to the Burn some years ago and I shared a room with Fiona and Rebecca - early in the morning I heard her getting up "you coming for a run Karen? - eh no, you're on your own Fiona!"

She would phone me on her way over to QMRI and say "what kind of coffee would you like?" - thats how lovely Fiona was and I am going to miss her greatly.

My thoughts are with Fiona's family at this sad time.
