Dr Denison was my consultant with both my sons. After F’s traumatic birth she met me after for a debrief and said “I think I’ll see you again..” At that point I said pretty clearly “only if it’s in Tesco!” Yet 4 years later there I was.. back in her clinic and pregnant with L. She remembered F and I. She was extremely caring and compassionate and I felt as safe as I could at one of the most vulnerable points in my life. Near the end of my pregnancy I had an unplanned admission which I found really distressing. She called the ward whilst on annual leave and talked me through everything and made a plan to carry out my c-section herself on her first day back. She didn’t need to in the end..L came the day before.. but she still called me on the labour ward to congratulate me. She was genuinely amazing and worked tirelessly on improving the outcomes for Mums and babies. I can’t imagine the loss felt by her family, friends and colleagues.
