I am so terribly sad to hear about Fiona’s death. She not only had a great academic mind but was such fun to be with. We met when we were academic lecturers in obstetrics over the last two decades, at various local and national meetings and kept parallel career tracks. We often compared notes about the juggle between family and work as we had our families around the same time. She talked fondly of Gordon, James and David and all their achievements. From a work perspective she was a great person to "think outside the box", finding solutions to tackle problems in pregnancy, particularly as we both collaborate with engineering colleagues. Her work on the best type of compression stockings in pregnancy and the mirror to use in water births are examples of the simple solutions that were her forte. I was hugely supportive of her promotion to Professor at Edinburgh which was well deserved. I also enjoyed our contact through Tommy's charity where as a Trustee I would attend the Edinburgh centre presentations. She was so passionate about her work and the benefit to women and families. I will miss her very much and remember her very fondly.
