I was recommended to talk with Fiona back in 2016 when I was planning a project on urinary catheters. I liked Fiona right from our first meeting - she was so cheerful and enthusiastic, and it was obvious she had a passion for improving the lives of her patients. It wasn't at all clear what I had to offer as a physicist but Fiona was totally not put off by that. A few months later she suggested that we co-supervise a student project, and that developed into a 4-person collaboration over 2017-2018 that taught me a lot about the experiences of nurses and patients with catheters. The fact that it led to a published paper is a testament to Fiona's support - she was busy all the time but she always found time to offer encouragement. It was always a pleasure to meet with Fiona and to work with her because she was so open and friendly and she passed on her energy and enthusiasm to the people she interacted with. Her passing is a huge loss and I am so sorry that she is gone. I will really miss her.
