I met Fiona in 2018 when I had just taken up my first academic position. She enthusiastically supported me in my first pieces of work and over time we worked more closely and developed more collaborative projects. She always had so many ideas, so much input and crucially, could point out when engineers were over thinking things! Her approach was gloriously selfless and without her I cannot imagine my career being where it is. She was a scientific creator and advisor, a fantastic collaborator, a thoughtful colleague to heed advice from, and a friend. In the past couple of years we caught up more as friends than collaborators and I valued our time together. Her passing is a loss for us all, but she will continue to inspire me and will forever be in my thoughts. I will miss her.
