Fiona clinically and I shared an office when we were both university lecturers. I have fond memories of those times and can see her smiling across the desk at me as some plan for a research project was hatched. She was an outstanding researcher and inspirational doctor. She was kind and gentle and had a great sense of humour. She was so positive and I cant recall her ever complaining - even when serious health problems cropped up, she never complained, just moved on. Her leaving us, is a huge loss to academia and medicine, but is especially a huge personal loss . I am so grateful that our paths in life crossed for a while and that i knew her and enjoyed some special time with her.
