Fiona and I crossed paths repeatedly over the years; as school pupils, as undergraduates, and most recently as colleagues at the Queen’s Medical Research Institute. She was always thoughtful, honest, conscientious and kind, and was simply a pleasure to work with as a research colleague – unfailingly offering a friendly greeting when met in the corridors and ready to offer help, ideas and encouragement. She will be so greatly missed by her patients, friends, those she worked with and, of course, all generations of her family, to whom I send my heartfelt condolences. Donald J. Davidson
